Our membership process consists of five steps. We recommend anyone interested in joining the church to go through these steps in order, but steps 1-3 may be taken in any order.
STEP 1: MEET WITH AN ELDER
Our Elders would love to meet you for coffee, ice cream, or even invite you for a meal at their house. Our goal during this first meeting is to get to know you and answer any questions you may have about our church. When you meet with an elder, he will also give you a Starting Point Packet that includes our church constitution and bylaws, current directory, a Membership Application, and more.
STEP 2: JOIN US FOR A STARTING POINT LUNCH
Once a quarter we invite all visitors, prospective members, or new members to join us for a Starting Point Lunch immediately following the morning Worship Gathering. The Starting Point Lunch includes a time of fellowship with new and long-time members as well as learning more about Fellowship Baptist Church. We provide an overview of our beliefs, church structure, discipleship pathway, and membership covenant.
STEP 3: PRESENT YOURSELF AS A CANDIDATE FOR MEMBERSHIP
Once you decide you would like to join Fellowship Baptist
Church, you may present yourself as a candidate for membership during the
“Response to God’s Word” at the conclusion of any Worship Gathering. If you
know you will be presenting yourself as a candidate for membership, please let
us know ahead of time so we can be prepared to greet you.
STEP 4: MEMBERSHIP INTERVIEW WITH AN ELDER
After you have presented yourself as a candidate for
membership, one of our elders will schedule a membership interview. During the
interview we will ask you to share your salvation testimony, review our church
covenant, and discuss any questions you may have regarding our statement of
faith, church structure, or discipleship pathway. These interviews typically
take about 1 hour for an individual or 2 hours for a family.
STEP 5: AFFIRMATION BY THE CHURCH
The final step is a vote of affirmation by the congregation
at our Quarterly Members Meeting. Member candidates will be presented to the
church during our Members Meeting and a two-thirds majority vote of those
present and voting is required to be received into membership.
