Update 7-8-20

We’re so excited at the joy and privilege it is to come and worship TOGETHER as a family in our Worship Center. You're invited to join us each Sunday morning at the church at 10:30 a.m. as we gather to worship the Lord.

As we continue meeting together, our guiding biblical principle is found in Philippians 2:3-5 – Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, We’re doing all of this to love our brothers and sisters, as well as our neighbors while being sensitive to the varying levels of comfort different people currently have in group settings.

There are certainly a variety of thoughts and opinions regarding the current situation. In an effort to consider others first (fellow members as well as the community), for the next few weeks, we’ll be doing a few things differently as we work our way back to “full normal.”

• Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m.

We have adjusted seating in most of our Sunday school classes to allow for social distancing. It's not possible for every classroom to have six feet between participants, so feel free to participate at the level of your own comfort. If you have any questions or concerns, ask one of the pastors.

• Sanctuary Seating

We have blocked off every other aisle and are asking everyone to keep at least one seat between them and their non-household neighbor. This is something we typically do instinctively and provides for proper social distancing while also leaving plenty of seating.

• To Mask or Not to Mask?

Masks are not requested, nor required. However, we ask that everyone act in the spirit intended by Philippians 2. Preferring your brother or sister is always a two way street. If you choose to wear a mask, we honor that. If you choose not to wear a mask, we honor that. And if you choose to stay at home, we honor that as well. If you would like to wear a mask, there are masks available in the Foyer.

• Wash Your Hands

Please be conscientious to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. There is hand sanitizer in the foyer and soap is available in all the bathrooms.

• Bulletins & Printed Materials

We’ll continue emailing the bulletins each Friday (click here to email the secretary if you would like to receive this email). We're also making the bulletin available digitally a few minutes before the service. Text @fbcjoplin to 81010 to receive the digital bulletin and other announcements through our Remind texting.  While we will still print a few physical copies, please subscribe to the digital bulletin. It's both cost effective and more sanitary than paper bulletins.

• Greeters & Receiving the Offering

Our greeters will be appropriately positioned in the foyer to welcome everyone and help keep “high touch” surfaces clean. When the weather permits, we’ll be keeping the foyer doors open so that everyone isn’t touching the door handles as they enter and exit. Once services begin, they’ll be opening doors for everyone.

Offering: Instead of passing the plate, ushers will be situated by the doors as you leave the auditorium to receive your offering.

• Food & Drinks

When we have food and drinks in the coming weeks (we’re Baptist after all!), they’ll be served by servers for everyone’s protection. Please wait for someone to serve you rather than helping yourself. This simple action protects everyone. Parents of younger children please help your children participate in this by going through lines with them.

In the coming weeks, we plan to return to our normal routine, but in the meantime, let’s consider others first and continue trusting the Lord as we strive to glorify and honor the Lord Jesus Christ in everything we do.
